The City of Johor Bahru

The city of Johor Bahru is located on the southern tip of Peninsula Malaysia and has many fascinating and amazing things to offer visitors. Built in 1855 by the late Sultan Abu Bakar, the city also serves as a link to Singapore by road and rail. Because of its proximity to Singapore, the city is a popular destination for Singaporeans as well as international visitors visiting the island republic.

The city also offers visitors a multitude of souvenir, handicraft stores at reasonable prices which are popular among locals as well as Singaporeans. Shopping complexes such as the Holiday Plaza, Plaza Pelangi, Plaza Kotaraya, L'ien Hoe complex and the new City Square complex offer a good selective of local and imported goods including designer clothing label, electrical items and household products. There is also a Duty-Free Trade Zone where visitors will be able to purchase a large range of items including alcohol and cigarettes at tax free prices. Due to it's duty-free zone, this place is catered for foreigners from Singapore and around the world.

Visitors will also be glad to know that Johor Bahru provides great entertainment at affordable prices. Around the L'ien Hoe complex located in the area of Sentosa are many night spots for visitors to have fun. Famous for its large number of nightclubs, pubs and restaurants, visitors will be fascinated by the lights and colors of the nightlife in Johor Bahru. Visitors can also visit DNP

Plaza, where bistros, outdoor cafes, and pubs are located. This place offers visitors a wide range of places to suite individual needs.

Visitors can also find fun and excitement at the Johor Racing Circuit located in Pasir Gudang built for excitement and challenge. Visitors can visit when the circuit hosts the World Super-bike, World Endurance and the Johor Race series which is considered a local Derby of sorts. On-going activities are also available each week.
