Kenong Park, a lesser
known forest reserved is located near the town of Kuala Lipis, in the
state of Pahang. The park is a vast 128 square kilometre of unspoilt
tropical forest spanning across the Kenong Valley and the
Sungai Kenong. It shares a common border on the eastern and northern parts
with Taman Negara. Here is where the jungle has existed for 100 millions
years, undisturbed by the ice age which covered the northern hemisphere.
Here is where the flora and fauna has the opportunity to evolve into
exotic and unique species.
Although accessible and open to the public, most of the park remains
unexplored. In its unspoilt wilderness, visitors cannot fail to appreciate
the last tranquility, tumbling cascades and clear streams, its variety of
flora and fauna and myriad sounds of birds and insects. It is an
opportunity to see life on earth as it has simply been for all that time.
Kenong Rimba Park is situated in natural
surroundings with waterfalls, clear mountain streams and a variety of
flora and fauna. The merry chirping of birds will create an atmosphere
which is really difficult to express in words. It offers great great
adventure, such as exploring limestone caves, swimming in the river and
camping. Challenging hiking trails interspersed with protruding rocks and
untouched natural surroundings is a haven for adventure lovers. Within the
Kenong Rimba parks, there are several caves to explore.

TRIP ITINERARY
KENONG
PARK
3 DAYS/ 2 NITES
DAY 1 KENONG PARK (L, D)
Pick up at 0600 hrs from major hotels in Kuala Lumpur. All refreshments
and meals enroute at own expense. On arrival at Kuala Kuala Lipis, take a
short rest and then continue journey by boat to Jelai River jetty to
Tanjung Kiara. Then trek for 2 hours to the campsite via a route which
passes by or through a series of unique caves. See the caves’ inhabitants
such as bats, toads and non-poisonous snakes. Arrive at the campsite and
set up tents followed by lunch. .Campsite is equip with bath and toilet
facilities. Afternoon free at own leisure. .Take a cool dip in the nearby
rivers! Dinner in the evening.
DAY 2 KENONG PARK (B, L, D)
After breakfast, prepare to hike 3 hrs to Lata Kenong which is a beautiful
7-step waterfalls. The water is icy cool and very refreshing, a paradise
for swimmers, but watch-out for slippery rocks! Packed lunch provided,
then hike back to campsite. Along the trek watch out for wild animals
footprints such as tapirs, elephants or even tiger. Dinner in the evening,
The myths of Kenong will be revealed around a campfire.
DAY 3 KUALA LUMPUR
After breakfast, prepare to take a short hike and visit Gua Harimau and
Gua Hijau which are within the vicinity of the area. Return to campsite
lunch and break camp. Commence hiking to Tanjong Kiara jetty to catch the
boat ride back to Kuala Lipis enroute to Kuala Lumpur.
