Sipadan Dive Center

Traveling Schedule (Route: K.Kinabalu / Tawau / Semporna / Sipadan)
(Route: Sipadan / Semporna / Tawau / K.Kinabalu)
All the Instructors and Divemasters at the Centre are trained under the PADI system of diver education. Three scheduled boat dives depart each day for different dive sites. The Centre runs four fiberglass dive boats, measuring 29 x 6 feet and powered by twin 65 hp outboard engines. They are designed with safety, comfort and diving convenience in mind and will speed our guests to each dive site in less than fifteen minutes, with their Divemaster and boatman in complete control. The unlimited beach dives are a stone's throw from the Centre. They have a supply of 120 aluminum, 3000 psi (217 bar), 80 cubic foot (12 liter) tanks, fitted with K" valves. Three Bauer compressors ensure that there is an unlimited supply of tanks (DIN fittings are not available, so any divers using regulators requiring this fitting are advised to bring their own adapters). Scubapro rental equipment is available, however guests are advisable to make advance bookings to guarantee availability. Underwater torches are also available for rent. Things to bring:
Unlimited Beach Dives Guests may choose to either beach dive or boat dive, or a combination of the two, each day. Beach dives are only allowed after 0600 hours and the last beach dive should be planned so all divers exit the water no later that 2200 hours (see night diving). All divers are required to dive with a buddy on beach dives and they must sign in and out with the Divemaster-in-Charge. No Divemaster will accompany beach dives unless prior arrangement are made (with the exception of night dives, which must be led by a Divemaster). Depth Limitation and Surface Intervals No dive must exceed 130 feet (40 meters). A mandatory minimum surface interval of sixty minutes is required between each consecutive dive, regardless of whether divers are diving with computers, wheels or tables. This is for divers' own safety. Night Diving and Cavern Diving Proof of the appropriate certification for night or cavern diving must be shown before divers will be allowed to participate in these activities. If there is no proof of certification, the diver can do a certification course i.e. an Introductory to Night Diving or PADI Advanced Open Water Course. Advance arrangements will have to be made if certification courses are required. Overnight Surface Interval All divers are required to observe a twelve-hour surface interval between each day of diving for their own safety and comfort. Flying and Diving Sipadan Dive Centre recognizes that each person, agency, computer and tables differs on their 'flying after diving times'. However, the latest recommendations from DAN are that a minimum of twelve hour' surface time is required before flying, or twenty-four hours' surface time in the case of multiple dives over multiple days. We therefore do not allow any diving on the last day at the centre if a guest is scheduled to fly later that day. Final Discretion Sipadan Dive Centre reserves the final discretion on who may or may not participate in any of the diving activities offered, based on a divers qualifications, demonstrated ability and physical and/or mental state. If a diver during his/her stay at the Centre becomes physically incapacitated by injury, illness, intoxication, hangover or similar, Sipadan Dive Centre reserves the right to stop that person from participating in any diving activities until such time as he/she has recovered from his/her incapacitation. |

Diver Certification Upon arrival, all divers must produce proof of certification by an internationally-recognized diving agency. Divers who have not dived in the last twelve months may be required, at the discretion of Sipadan Dive Centre, to do a scuba refresher course if they exhibit uncertainty in their diving skills. Liability Release All guests will be required to sign a Liability Release (waiver) and Express Assumption of Risk form upon arrival. No diving or snorkeling activities will be permitted until form has been signed and witnessed. Orientation Dive and First Day Every diver, regardless of their level of qualification, will be required to do an orientation shore dive on the first day with one of our Divemasters. Boat Dives and Schedules Two morning boat dives and one afternoon boat dive are scheduled daily. The times and locations of the first morning dive are posted on our "Dive Schedule" board the evening before. The times and locations of the next dive will be posted upon return from each dive. All divers board the boats full kited-up, except for mask, snorkel and fins which are donned on the way to the dive site. Most boat entries will be seated back-roll entries. Exits will be by boat pick-up at the point of ascent. Each diver will be assigned to buddy teams during the dive briefing. |
